Sheridan Schaefer, RYT
Sheridan began practicing yoga in her transition between high school and college, found that it steadily became the foundational centerpoint for all other activities in her life as she matured into adulthood. A consistent yoga practice gave her the groundedness, collectness, support, stability, and insight to explore a wide range of opportunities. While maintaining a practice, Sheridan received two degrees from the University of Texas in Psychology and Spanish, conducted an independent honors research project focused on mindfulness meditation as well as assisted in multiple research labs in UT's Psychology Department, studied and traveled abroad in Europe and South America, worked jobs in the restaurant and public relations industries, and volunteered teaching and mentoring within underserved populations of the Austin community. Ultimately, yoga became the most valued and central line of focus and source of inquiry for her, but Sheridan has always found that the variety and diversity of life can only serve to advance her capability as a committed worker and yogi and therefore always seeks to explore new and rewarding experiences.
Sheridan Schaefer received her Yoga Teaching Certificate from Wanderlust Yoga after completing a 200-hour training with teachers Gioconda Parker, Kate Waitzkin, and Collete Hill. Sheridan’s objective is to bring the benefits of well-being and mindfulness to a variety of populations within the Austin community, and to do so in a way that is authentic, sustainable, and nurturing for those involved. Expect her classes to be informative, personalized to your interest and level of skill, invigorating, challenging, yet relaxing and soothing.
